Steve Jobs passed away yesterday. As such, the world lost an icon that fits with other iconic figures like Henry Ford, Alexander Graham Bell and Walt Disney. The products he envisioned and brought to the world were transcended age. People from 8 to 85 use Apple products every day. Jobs was a brilliant businessman. He was a visionary. He was a creative. He will be missed.
Masters Degree Required for Social Media Director?
Every once in awhile, I’ll take a look at Career Builder or Monster and see what kind of jobs are being created that are directed related to social media. There are so many companies and organizations using social media as part of their overall marketing strategy.
One thing I have noticed is that some companies are really stretching the requirements for these positions to unreasonable limits, particularly those that are requiring a Masters Degree in Marketing in order to be considered.

Foliobook Portfolio App for the iPad
I recently acquired an iPad2 (which I love) and as a photographer, I was very interested to see what I could do with it as portfolio for my work. Many art directors and editors are accepting iPad portfolio’s (in addition to print and online) to look for new talent. In addition, having a portfolio on hand when meeting with potential clients is pretty cool too.
Developers saw the potential of the iPad as a portfolio device and therefore there are quite a few apps available. There is always a risk with having to put up money for an app, so there’s always a lot of research to do beforehand.
After doing quite a bit of reading reviews and looking at prices, I went with Foliobook. At a cost of $9.99, the price was right and it allows enough customization without it getting tedious making changes.

The Best Photography App For The iPhone
The main reason I made the jump to the iPhone was due largely to the built in camera. People will say, “It only has 5 megapixels!” which is a useless measurement for camera quality. I loved my Droid X, but despite it’s 8 megapixels, it still was not a very good camera.
I didn’t want to carry my DSLR everywhere I went and also did not want to purchase a compact camera to take around with me. Having seen the great work photographers like Chase Jarvis would produce with their iPhone, I decided to get one.
