Notes After Changing From iPhone 6s To SE

Recently, I started using an iPhone SE; a change from my iPhone 6s. I’ve used Apple smartphones for some years now. The other apple product I use, a lot is my MacBook Pro. iPad has also been in the equation. So, using iPhone fits perfectly with my ‘ecosystem’. Some would call me an ‘Apple fanboy‘ — usually people who don’t dig Apple and / its (mostly) great products.

I’m that guy who doesn’t wait to watch the replay of product launches. I watch live. I will admit, I have looked at other phones and wondered if I should consider changing from the iPhone. In case you’re interested, one of the phones that made me think, a little, was Google’s Pixel. But part of my problem or challenge, at the same time, is that the iPhone, as good part of the puzzle for me.

In concept, Apple’s Airdrop is awesome. In reality, the wireless transfer of data between all Apple products, for instance between iPhone and Mac, can really, really suck. Lately, I’ve become mighty frustrated with some persistent Airdrop issues. A little (OK, I’ll admit it: a lot) of googling later, I had to conclude that these are well-known issues Apple still hasn’t solved. I get that some things may not be a priority, but some of these issues have persisted for years, so why not fix them?

Let’s look at 3 well-known Airdrop issues we wish Apple would solve.

Should You Use Apple Clips for Church Video?

Video is becoming an increasingly important medium online. YouTube is a huge behemoth of a social network and is still growing. Facebook and Twitter are trying to get in on the action too with mixed success, and as churches and ministries, we need to consider how we can use video in useful and effective ways. One aspect of that is the effective editing of our videos so when Apple released its new Clips app, I decided to give it a go and see how it could be used.

TL;DR Clips is a fairly easy to use video app with some cool touches for quickly making and sharing mobile videos, However, it has a couple of big shortcomings that will probably make it unsuitable for most usages.

Streetlights Audio Bible and App [Saturday Morning Review]

Streetlights Audio Bible’s first publication was in 2012. The trio who met in the early 2000s wanted to create an engaging way to interact with Scriptures. Their desire has seen them publish an audio Bible with about twenty works published so far. It has been made available on free from their website, Soundcloud and for purchase via iTunes. They’ve recently launched an app.

Because I haven’t done a review on the audio Bible itself it might be worthwhile to do so first. Let’s start by a general look at the audio Bible itself before talking about their app.

Why Does Your Phone Battery Suck? [Video]

I have the worst luck when it comes to batteries. First, my Samsung Note 4 battery decided it could not hold a charge for more than a couple of minutes after only a year and half of ownership. Then I got the Samsung Note 7 and we all know the issue there.

But why are batteries such an issue? Further, with technology advancing so quickly, why do phone batteries still suck? Have researchers found a longer-lasting battery?
