One of the neat parts of my job is the responsibility of trying out new technology. Sometimes it makes me feel like a kid at Toys ‘R’ Us with a free pass to do whatever the heck I want with anything store-wide.
Wait a minute – I feel like that all the time…!
Moving on. We’ve highlighted a great online streaming provider for ministries before, like 316 Networks, as well as a few open source options too, like MediaCore and OSP.
Here are two others that I’ve been playing around with:
Conviva is the first option that has a number of industry-standard features. They’ve got some neat real-time reporting to boot.
Ooyala is the second service which a number of ministries have already started using. I particularly like the idea of the “Adaptive Bitrate” technology which essentially allows the quality of the stream to change on-the-fly as internet connection speed of the client changes.
Both of these services are not faith-based (if that’s an issue for you) and if you’re looking for a faith-based online video streaming service then you should definitely check out 316 Networks.
