Wow. How slimy can you get?!?
Apparently spammers and pornographers are beginning to attack the spiritual institutions on Facebook, including the Seminary that I currently study at, Dallas Theological Seminary.
What do you think about this “strategy”?
Unfortunately, it probably “works” more than we’d like to admit…
David says
Well I don’t know how it’s an attack per se, since it’s merely a mention. What happened to free publicity was always good publicity? So I don’t know what kind of lame strategy this is? I doubt it was discussed in an actual room with a white board as men in suits and cigars laughed. If anything…. it’s kinda funny? Forgive me if I am way off base – I graduated from Fuller so you know how we are. (ha ha)

John,
Wow! That’s crazy….but then I guess it’s nor surprising. Porn always seems to be on the forefront/leading edge of using technology to push it’s message/images.
My church history professor told us that when the printing press was invented, porn was one of the first things being printed.
We are all susceptible to temptation, so it makes sense that they would go after places that might be publicly seen as places that resist temptation or preach against it.

It was only a matter of time. I’ve seen it on YouTube and blogs for a few years now. Hopefully, Facebook will find a way to respond and ban most of these people.

Hey John:
Churches get it all the time on Twitter or at least we do. It is sad, very sad 🙁

At least your’s have pictures to prove they aren’t real people. Mine have no pictures and I’m bad with names so I don’t know if I went to school with them or not.

I actually blogged about a problem which I think goes closely with this issue…
