Caught this advertisement, which was strategically placed within Facebook, of a North Point Strategic Partner church the other day and I was happy to see that they are actively engaging in an obviously-rich ecosystem of eyeballs.
Is your church actively spending budget dollars in advertisements via Facebook? Love to see some too, if you’ve got them.

I wrote an article on my experiment of using Facebook ads for a fall promotion rather than a direct mail piece. Thought this might be interesting to you: http://www.shrinkthechurch.com/2010/09/16/are-church-mailers-a-total-waste-of-money/

I literally just finished writing copy, choosing targets, and scheduling a campaign. I figured I would check out 8bit before lunch, and came across this.
So the answer is yes.
We are finishing up a series called @ Risk. We did a number of things from signs around town, newspaper ads, and more. We feel that the FB ads helped the conventional ads and vice versa.
We started by targeting people who were connected to our FB page to RSVP to our event, once we had seeded the event with RSVP’s we targeted people who were friends with the people connected to our page. So they would see “John Smith is attending etc..”

I have spent money on Google adwords to promote our online stream with little results, but they are eyeballs none the less. I think expectations were too high.
Currently, our church is working on a community outreach training video series (in the editing process now) so as soon as that goes live, I will be setting up some adverts for that, most likely on facebook, since I know people are used to watching videos on there.

We have been using Facebook ads to promote our new college venue with a fair degree of success. It’s so inexpensive and highly focused – it’s a no-brainer to me, especially to reach the college crowd.

Great idea! We have used Google’s AdWords with limited success, but maybe Facebook is the way to go. Thanks for sharing.
