You’ve seen a few of these already before, like Wibiya, the Meebo Toolbar, Google Toolbar, Facebook Connect, and so on. Those implementations are great and you should definitely take a look using one of them for increasing engagement on your site or blog!
But on a somewhat-long day I decided to create one that was less-dependent on a third-party source and one that you could easily host on your own blog, add whatever you’d like to it, etc.
I created a “top” and “bottom” version for you to use. It’s pretty self-explanatory.

Instructions and Download:
Please note that this is a first-pass at building this. It’s using in-line CSS which isn’t really optimized. You are more than welcome to customize, hack, replace, and do whatever you’d like to it though!
My goal was to make it super-easy to just copy and paste. You will have to edit the copy in the text to reflect the correct links and copy and paste your Facebook code for your particular page.
The rest is up to you. Enjoy.
Download the text file to copy and paste the included code just after the <body> tag in your header. Get the file here.
Thoughts? Let me know if you use it!

Got it! Thanks! Thinking about buying Standard soon…..unless, of course, you feel the need to make a donation :D.

Thanks, John
I like the simplicity. Many times, social bars are overwhelmed with options, but this is nice and clean.
Keep up the great work!

I will try and get it up on Distort it by tonight and play around with it. Will have to see if we can bring it locally to our server. Waiting on other’s servers is something I hate to do.

nice,
I am trying it out now
awesome stuff
I wonder how useful it would be to add a dropdown for random and/or popular posts?

Nice! I agree with some of the other comments… I really like the simplicity of the social sharing bar.

I realise I’m only one person but I absolutely despise these things.
They, along with adverts just interrupt my surfing and cause my eyeline to drift away from what I arrived at a site to do. They typically cause me not to return to that site unless I have compelling reasons to do so.

Totally get that and realize that mileage will vary. I suspect you are *not* alone in your thoughts on this one!

We love this social bar! We’ve had it up for a while now, but just noticed that Facebook is showing up as a white blank space rather than the like and share it was before. Any suggestions on what the problem might be?
