For those that have Facebook pages, you need to know what Facebook’s Edgerank is and how it effects your viewership. When you post something on your Facebook page, it is not as simple as all your fans seeing it, as this would cause too much clutter. Instead, only a portion of your Facebook fans get to see it through an algorithm below. While the algorithm is proprietary and unknown to the public, the infographic below shares what has been revealed by Facebook so far.
The infographic does a great job of explaining the Edgerank formula. Here are three key points to take away from it:
- Facebook looks at Personal interaction (who has interacted with your page before and what you have posted) as well as how people interact with one specific post (both postivie and negative).
- To get a post viewed a lot, someone should be interacting with your posts, not be critical of it, and have engage with that medium type (photos, links, videos)
- 40% of all Facebook usage was in the newsfeed, not on individual Facebook pages, so this is critical to all Facebook page owners.
