One of the ways that many bloggers are making a few pennies here and there is direct advertising on their sites and blogs.
For many this can be a hassle since managing the placeholders, selling the stock/inventory, and purchasing is a little more work than many have time (or interest) to do.
That’s why advertising marketplaces like Beacon Ads exist so that bloggers can blog without spending too much time on managing their ads.

This is what they’ve got to say:
Beacon is trying a new approach in online advertising.
We’ve created the first automated, open market, online advertising program for the Christian space. Our aim is to bring integrity and transparency to an industry that we see has too many hazy areas.
I completely agree. I’ve actually spoken with one of the founders and his heart is in the right place (he’s not interested in self-promotion either, so name has been withheld). Advertising can be a tricky spot and many businesses need to see a good and accurate ROI.
If you’re an advertiser you can search the marketplace easily and see the stats on each site:
They’ve also created new “Channels” to sell across multiple blogs as well:
BeaconAds is a whitelabel of the very popular BuySellAds framework and software, which we use on all of the 8BIT Network properties, and since we’ve been using the technology for quite some time we can definitely vouch for it.
We’ve been using BSA since May of last year!
Finally, management is simple and easy. I personally love the interface of BuySellAds which is the same in BeaconAds:
Please note that they do charge a 30% commission so if you’re selling a spot for $100 bucks they’ll take $30 of it. So you’ll have to do your homework to see if it’s going to be worth the trade of convenience for money in your pocket.
BuySellAds has a 25% commission in comparison.
All-in-all this might be just the solution you’re looking for. Check it out at BeaconAds.com

Thanks for the mention John! Glad you like the service. We hope it will serve others.
FYI, BSA commission is slightly less but they no longer accept Christian sites, since we’re handling that area for them.

Thanks Josh! Love what you’ve done.

Do advertisers get automatically listed on both networks — the white-labeled Beacon as well as the original BSA network? Is the 5% gap justifiable to the publisher?
John Saddington says
i don’t think bsa is accepting any more spiritual sites…

Do you know how much traffic a site should be receiving before Beacon will consider placing ads on it? Or how do they determine if my site is worthy?
Thanks.
