“We recognize that a church that does not communicate ceases to be a church,” said Monsignor Paul Tighe, secretary of the Vatican’s Social Communications department.
“Many young people today are not turning to traditional media like newspapers and magazines any more for information and entertainment.
“They are looking to a different media culture, and this is our effort to ensure that the Church is present in that communications culture.”
I think this is a smart move and I’m excited. We’ll see how they begin to manage the “conversations” because there are a lot of conversations swirling around in the digital atmosphere.
But what about MySpace and Twitter…?

I understand some of the reasons why they are not allowing conversation. But if you claim one of your reasons to be on the internet is to be in conversations but you only allow one way conversation, there is a limit to what you can do. Although I think that is true for much of the church.
