I think the most fascinating numbers of note is the fact that 69% consider “spam” an email they did not request…
If that were really true then, for me, 99% of email I receive is “spam”.
*sigh*

My definition of spam is similar to the definition of a weed I was once given many years ago … a weed is simply a flower growing where it isn’t welcome / wanted.
So spam is an email received where it isn’t wanted.
Trouble is, when we set ourselves up to be public as we do being bloggers, twitterers, etc, then we have to be realistic that our levels of privacy will accordingly be reduced. I doubt that few think about this when they start publically speaking, wherever that may be.

totally agree bro. the more public it is the harder it can be to “hide”…

other than receiving of unsolicited email and comment, I see spam as anything that attempts to acquire my click of some link through pretentious or subtle means.
I would just like to know why don’t they stop with the same repetitive strategy, I mean, come one – I have not visited a page about enlargements, never will. I won’t really contact someone to pick up the millions of dollars I won for the 20th time.
on another note concerning this sort of spam; I once emptied my spam folder and left the window open on that folder of my email. My wife came around to use the computer and the first thing she sees is an email from some woman saying that she is as some bar waiting for me. Needless to say, my wife’s heart skipped a beat. It was not a good experience for her.
