As I Googled different combinations of ‘gift’, ‘creative type’ and ‘affordable’, I came up empty. As in, the best suggestion I found was to buy that special person in your life “books”. Yeah, that wasn’t very helpful. I don’t want to mention the site that suggested that.
Well, although”books” was not specific by any stretch of the imagination, it led me to recall a wonderful gift set that I had heard about months ago.
It’s the collected works of Malcolm Gladwell, illustrated by Brian Rea. As a fan of typography and anything related to art-journaling, my heart almost immediately began to covet.

You can see more pictures and read about the creative process at laimyours.com. At the time of this writing, Amazon had this item on sale for $50.40 and it was Amazon Prime eligible.
Do you have any ideas for the creative types in your life?
Or better yet, what are you hoping they get you?

Actually, a GREAT buy for any creative in your life is Austin Kleon’s Steal Like an Artist. It’s very visual and a quick read, but also very fruitful and encouraging.
It’s hard to read it and not want to immediately go make something. =)
I’d also recommend any of Gary Hustwit’s documentaries from his design trilogy: Helvetica, Objectified, and Urbanized.

Thanks for the tips, bro! I haven’t read any of those although I have heard of at least one of ’em.
