From Ragamuffinsoul’s blog and Whittaker Woman‘s comes something incredible: Heather was able to not only meet the girl that she and her family was sponsoring via Compassion International but they were able to harness the power of online video technology (Skype) so that the rest of the family could as well.
For those that are still having trouble grasping the value of online technology (and especially video-centric tech) this video and testimony is for you.
There’s something happening in the Kingdom of God as the Spirit of God and the Church begins to use technology and use it well and with definite purpose.
I’m so happy for the Whittaker family and I doubt that this will be the last example of how technology is bridging the gap between people thousands of miles away.

very very very cool
Maybe something that charity organizations can take note of.
To see how donations are making an impact just promotes more donations.

good stuff.
would be good if there was a live stream for certain events.
Our church got together over 600 boxes of goodies for kids in the townships (those looked after by MetroKids) I am sure to put together a video clip of kids receiving their gifts – in that way is is so cool to see the joy on the face of those you have contributed happiness to.

That's awesome! Would be cool if Compassion (and others) could set up video chats between sponsored children and their sponsors who aren't able to visit in person.

seriously!

You are exactly right. If people are not starting to notice that online community (blogs, twitter, etc…) are doing amazing things are crazy. This week has changed things. Jon raising 30,000, seeing the Whittaker family meet their compassion kid, and Carlos having his blog community pick his single, are all examples of using the web to spread a message.
The possibilities are endless and are just getting started.
Pretty excited about the future.
