Just in time for the Christmas (whoops, I meant “Holiday”) Season, HCSB has announced that they’ve been able to publish the Bible on the Xbox 360 game console.
Called Bible NavigatorX, it can be found in the “Indie Games” section. Some stats:
- First ever Bible Reader on the XBOX 360
- Includes entire HCSB Bible (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
- Includes Search feature and Bookmarking
- Available for XBOX 360 and Windows PCs
- $5/400 Microsoft Points
And from their website:
The application will consist of the complete Old and New Testaments as well as three additional tools: a basic search function that operates much like a concordance, a bookmarking function that allows for marking passages and reorganizing those bookmarks into an order appropriate for teaching or study, and a presentation mode that features a larger display suitable for projecting on a screen.
And here’s a clip from a local news station. Listen closely to some of the thoughts in this short vid:

What are your thoughts? I personally love the fact that he was able to pitch the idea to Lifeway and they agreed. Sweet.

This is pretty cool, but I just can't see how practical this could be. I'm trying to figure out a way that this would come in handy.
"Hey, just playing Modern Warfare 2, what's that verse about God being the man of war? Oh wait, hold on. Yep, Exodus 15:3. Thanks BibleNavigatorX!"
That's been my only thought of when it could be useful. I like that the Bible is being pushed onto new platforms, but I just get stuck on the "Why?" portion of this.
But maybe it's because I only have Wii, and 3rd party cool stuff NEVER come to it, that I'm being a Debbie Downer on this. 🙂

HAHA.
Wii FTW.

I really have to wonder how well that is going to sell–reading huge amounts of text on a screen is just annoying, & that's not even getting in to the religious aspects of it.
human3rror says
perhaps it'll flop. who knows.

I'm just trying to remember the last time I saw an anchor and a reporter with their sleeves not rolled up, much less their jackets on. Makes me feel like they're not getting any work done.

hahahah!
