Both LifeChurch.tv and North Point Ministries have launched new Facebook Fan Pages and it’s been interesting to see the relative response.
I’ve noticed more and more ministries spending ample time and resources investing in creating these digital “outposts” (as Chris Brogan calls them) and I think it’ll prove to be of value.
Do you guys have a Facebook landing page for you ministry? Let’s see ’em in the comments.
Fred McKinnon says
Yes … http://www.facebook.com/sscommunitychurch
How do you get all that custom HTML on there??
austinklee says
You have to get the Static FBML tab and then use a stripped down variation on traditional HTML for coding…or just see this post: http://bit.ly/aJZcFb
Andrew says
Yeah how did they do that? Anyone?

Ours is really simple:

But now I’m thinking I need to spruce it up a little. We’re just getting going with the Facebook stuff. Thanks for sharing. Hope you don’t mind if I get a little “inspiration” from these Facebook pages.

Hey Gang,
OK – so I’ve followed the steps in setting up the FBML … I used it to put our simple adserver code, but it only shows up on the tab I created. (see http://www.facebook.com/theworshipcommunity) .. .in the TWCHeader tab … which will be renamed.
So, using this … are you only able to customize one full page .. is there a way to embed or put HTML or FBML anywhere, on ANY of the pages?
For example, our “Wall” is our landing page. How can I get the FBML to appear there, on the wall, or is this even possible?
Thanks in advance,
Fred

I’m planning to revamp ours soon using those 4 steps that Nick posted over the past few weeks. Would love to be able to have some of this custom HTML in mine. I’ll look through the links already posted in the comments here. I may have more questions when I get to it.
Fred McKinnon says
Tweaked our page for TheWorshipCommunity.Com today … our “Wall” is our landing page, so for now, there wasn’t a lot we could do.
We did add some Google Analytics code, some ad server code, and our Twitter info … moved that box to the wall … it seems to be rendering nicely … check it out:

Yup! Just created one a few weeks ago. http://facebook.com/frontlinedc . I’m pretty pleased with it, but it could probably use a little work.

very exciting.
i manage a local fanpage for campus crusade for christ (facebook.com/chicocru 260 fans) and our global fan page (facebook.com/campuscrusade 12,000 fans)
the global fan page is definitely an “outpost” but our local page is our home base.
i wonder for church plants w young congregations have thought of using a fan page as their home base, and their website as an outpost.
if you have or are currently using a fan page instead of a website as a homebase please let me know! i’d love to hear you’re experience.

Wow, you mean my little old Crossroads had a fan page before those big dogs did? http://www.facebook.com/CrossroadsClyde

very well done and cool outposts – I am a fan of both. Can’t watch online very often but I am 150% behind the effort.

I am actually very much interested on the way lifechurch was able to customize their fan page. I partner with a bible school that is looking to enlarge its presence on facebook and gain more students for it’s semesters. Does anyone have any knowledge on how they were able to do this? Thank you!
Brett says
It is really just HTML code (using FBML application). If you know how to do the HTML coding you can do what they did. I’m still working on our church’s (not nearly as good as life church but it’s just me working on it).
This is a good article on how to do some stuff to your page.

Hi there !
Thanks for the interesting articles – I am new to social media networking and always curious to see other ministry’s fan pages. Our ministry is based in East London, South Africa.
Find our fan page here: http://www.facebook.com/andrejennyr
Static FBML is not really hard, when you have some sort of HTML knowledge and there is so much more you can do to make your fan page stand out from the rest.
