Jared sent me this link the other day and I’ll tell you one thing: I really like the logo for Arq!
But, the service, after a quick survey of responses and reviews, show to be just as good.
Arq is an online backup service that provides a number of options and features that many other more-famous alternatives don’t give, such as persistent file repositories and easy-to-understand (and real) encryption options.
Versioned files are also possible.
I think the biggest thing for me is that I’m already and S3 Amazon user and hooking something like this up would be a breeze.
I like that.
And for less than $30 bucks it’s a very decent buy (and you can set a threshold of monthly spending too).
Check it out if you’re in the market and let me know what you think.

Although you might not like their icon set as much, JungleDisk is what I’ve used in the past and supports Windows, Mac, and Linux. It has a very similar feature set to Arq as far as I could tell from the markaganda. If you haven’t looked at it, you might find it useful in a more blended environment.
ps. it’s not opensource 😉

If you are a supernerd like I am, you should check out duplicity. Super powerful, almost infinitely expandable, 100% cli. It’s a native nix package and there is a port on macports. Google for guides for setup/install.

for command line, I just use shell scripting and s3cmd directly to interface w AmazonS3. you can google to find the guts of scripts you’d need to accomplish most tasks pretty quickly
