I love finding new tech services that have a Christian foundation or premise, including Churchm.ag’s faith-based writings, but I have never seen one like RevivalistHosting.com. Revival Hosting.com is a website hosting company that 100% of their profits go to supporting Christian missionaries currently on the mission field.
Say “Hello” to PHP 5.4
PHP 5.4 is here!
Before you start thinking about upgrading your server, you should know if it’s worth doing it.
YES!
According to Nettuts+, “the latest enhancements significantly improve its elegance, while removing deprecated functionality, resulting in a dramatic optimization of the runtime (up to 20% more speed and memory usage reduction).”
20%?
I like the sound of that!
That could effect those on the verge of needing a server upgrade.

As the Apache Software Foundation celebrates their 17th anniversary, the magical Apache HTTP Server releases v2.4. This is the first major release it’s had since the Apache 2.2 release back in 2005!

Is the Cloud a Foolproof Solution?
I’m sure you’ve seen the rumblings of MegaUpload being take down this month. Despite your perspective on the shake-down, it brings some serious questions and implications as we look at the long-term use of “The Cloud.”

A Great Way to Send Large Files
As a photographer, I often have to send large files to clients. Emailing is out of the question and sometimes you can feel the “deer in the headlights” look in an email when you write,
“I’ll drop them on my server and you can come and grab them via FTP.”
There are sites such as YouSendit which work great, but unless you sign up for a paid plan, you’re limited to 100MB transfers. Those of us who are self-employed know we have to save all the pennies we can.
Thankfully, I found another solution and it’s terrific. It allows transfers of up to 2GB completely free.

Up to now, I had only used my Amazon S3 account for large, manual server backups, however, with this latest feature, I can use my Amazon S3 space much like a DropBox — in my browser!
Amazon S3 now has Multi-Object Delete.
Before, if you wanted to delete multiple folders or multiple files in one folder, you could not delete multiple files at once.
Lame, right?
Well, now you can!
