Instagram Instead of Facebook? [Infographic]

The chant for social media for many, many years has been to get on Facebook and own it. Now one of their own properties is becoming their biggest competitor. In fact, it is only second to YouTube as Instagram this quarter has overcome Twitter with active users and is doing amazing.

So youth pastors, worship leaders, and communication directors, do we go Facebook or Instagram? I agree with the infographic below.

Here are my top three favorite stats from this infographic:

  • I’m not worried about growth, so ignore that section. (It’s a lame argument for Instagram) But the posts being engaging on Instagram more than 2x as much? That’s amazing. And 58x more engagement per follower? Sheesh!
  • Want to work in an unsaturated market? Instagram has a LOW number of marketers in general, so I can verify that for churches this is even lower than these stats.
  • Every post you post will have the opportunity to reach your followers, unlike Facebook. All of this together makes Instagram in general more valuable. Now to figure out how to do visual social media better!
