I know that there’s definitely a science to the art of “spam,” especially in blog comments, but I found this one to be just strange (and interesting).
This post here about the Southern Baptist Convention has received nearly 1,000+ comments since it was posted less than a month ago. About 100-200 spam comments a day…!
It’s interesting because it’s the only post that’s been targeted within the last few weeks. I suppose I find it fascinating because of the “history” with baptists and cultural laws against drinking, porn, etc.
I suppose it makes me more curious than anything else and I’m not trying to read anything into it.
Just curious is all!

Now let’s see how badly this post gets spammed, as you mentioned the SBC in it 😉

I use Akismet…I switched over to ID one time…and well, I had 116 PAGES of spam comments to sort through…
Akismet’s spam filters are so much better then ID’s!

I use askimet as well. Good stuff.

Maybe spammers know how old and outdated most baptist websites are, thus making them more susceptible to the power of spam.
(That comment is full of stereotypes, but couldn’t resist)

Being I web designer, sometimes I look for churches to send “promotional packets” to. The Baptist one’s are generally the sites that could use, uh, a little work.
