Perhaps you should be.
Last week Opera announced that more than 2.6 million people have used Opera Mini on their iPhones only after the two weeks following their public launch.
Safari, as we all know, isn’t a bad browser; it’s pretty good if you ask me. But that doesn’t mean that it needs to be the browser we use and we shouldn’t be surprised when another contender begins to creep onto our radar.
Here are some other interesting facts:
- Top 5 sites visited are Google, Facebook, NYTimes, my.opera.com, and accuweather
- Pageview growth from 4/09 to 4/10 was 192.3% while uniques was 176.1%.
- The number of pageviews per user was about 210.
That’s pretty encouraging.
I think there’s hope for Opera Mini and I’ve been using it a bit even on my regular laptop (although Chrome is about to take top spot!).
I’d stay tuned to how things roll-out and keep tabs on what they’re doing to challenge the dominant player on a dominant handset. Be a renegade and download it here.

I tried out opera mini, loved it.
But, like MOST iphone & ipod touch users, I’m sure a HUGE majority of those millions of users simply have Opera sitting as an unused app on page 8.
