It’s amazing how far we’ve come in terms of web technology in the last 4 years! It’s most easily seen with events that do not happen often, like the Olympics and the World Cup.
And I’m blown away by the ingenuity and value that people are creating for others! We can connect with others and enjoy the experience together! I seriously can’t wait – my family was so excited we bought a TV (finally…?) just for the World Cup…!
For example, this interactive calendar for all of the matches is fantastic!
iPhone Apps Galore!
But that’s not all that’s been developed. Check out these iPhone Apps (click images for direct links to download):
World Cup Countdown:
ESPN World Cup 2010 App
Football Live – iFootball
AP World Cup Coverage App
Watch it with Others!
Watching the World Cup alone can be satisfying but it’s really meant to be watched with others. Here are a few ways that you can connect to like-minded soccer fans:
LiveSoccer Local Pubs
Official US Soccer Bar Program
ESPN YouTube Channel
FootyTube
FIFA Official Home
Univision Home Live Coverage
ESPN3 – Live Coverage

I know where I’ll be come 1:30 CT on Friday. Only played 1 year and don’t really follow the sport on a regular basis but come Olympics or World Cup time I can’t get enough.
