This is not a joke – this guy is seriously marketing a product (WordPress plugin) that he’s branded as the WordPress Lap Dance Plugin. What it does, essentially, capture leads by a popup on an exit of your site.
The thought behind it is if you do this you will make more money and then be able to afford more lap dances.
The trash out there is overwhelming but you can’t deny the “creativity” of his marketing efforts. I’ve withheld the link to the actual website since I personally do not endorse it at all.

Haha no kidding.
And the full video is like 20 minutes long. *whew*

Why even bring attention to such crap?

Although I do understand that you do not support this project, your mentioning it on this website is a sort-of endorsement as it brings it to the attention of your users…
I personally don’t think that this kind of a post belongs on this site… just a friendly admonition from a fellow brother in Christ to remember that your witness is at stake here.

jacob,
my witness is at stake when i’m on the potty (or checking out bathroom scents). publishing a blog post doesn’t mean that we endorse anything and every blog post we do has the potential to be misunderstood, taken out of context, or potentially backfiring in our face despite our original intent and motivations.
For example…………. Posting things even as seemingly-innocuous as XKCD (like you did here) can be interpreted as supportive of foul language, bathroom humor, and possibly adolescent sexual-tension which might cause someone to stumble, right? Does this post here on your blog support jail-breaking devices, which some consider immoral and supportive of digital theft and piracy? Good god man! your witness… GONE!
(i for one understand that jailbreaking is not illegal, but what does the internet know?)
thanks for your fun comment.

Thanks for the reply π
I fully agree that it is possible for others to interpret our actions incorrectly, or have differing views of particular items (jailbreaking, for instance) and fully agree that it impossible for us to fully control other’s opinions of ourselves.
I do, however, think that there’s a difference between jailbreaking your iPhone and featuring a video referring to lap dances on a “Christian” or “Church” tech website.
PLEASE do not take this as an attack against you personally, just as an admonition to realize that posting videos with featuring sexually immoral content, even though it’s not endorsed “at all”, can damage both your reputation and ChurchCrunch’s reputation.
I would not have expected you to go and read through my blog posts looking for material in defense of your position. π
Jacob
P.S. I have not been subscribed to XKCD long enough to have seen any of the foul language etc. mentioned (I think I found them from another site), and I do not (obviously) support any of those things. π

Sounds like he is giving away free money. Who wouldn’t want that?
