As nice as Rails is, a combination of Rake and the IDE or the command-line are usually your best tools for managing your database tables. Beyond that, you’re left up to your own utilities in order to manage the database tables.
Rails Admin is a cool project that attempts to fill the void.
Specifically, Rails Admin is an engine for Rails 3 that provides a frontend to managing the tables for your Rails application.
As of now, it offers:
- The ability to display database tables
- Add new data
- Update existing data
- Delete existing data
- Out-of-the-box form validation
- Search
- ..and more
Definitely bookmarking this. You can browse the full project and down the source from GitHub.
