So, which country spends the most time online?
Is it the United States?
Nope. We’re about 8 hours per month from spending the most time online.
Here are the top 11 countries:
Listed by Average Hours Per Month
- 43.5 – Canada
- 35.3 – United States
- 32.3 – United Kingdom
- 27.7 – South Korea
- 26.6 – France
- 25.8 – Brazil
- 24.1 – Germany
- 21.8 – Russia
- 18.4 – Japan
- 13.5 – China
- 11.9 – India
Maybe this is why Canada implemented internet metered internet usage. If you multiply 8 hours per month by the number of Canadian internet users, that’s some bandwidth!
Any surprises on the list?
China and India stuck out to me. There are a lot of European countries I would have guessed to be online more. China’s internet is even limited, which has led the country to create copycat services like Twitter and Facebook. The Great Firewall doesn’t seem to be slowing them down much! Meanwhile, India is settled in an area that is primary thought of as remote and third-world, beating out Spain, Italy and other EU countries.
What can we do with this kind of knowledge?

I don’t know if I should be embarrassed or proud of this being a Canadian?
Eric Dye says
Be proud!
The Great White North is cold, eh!
(That explains why all those hosers are spending all that time online.)

So true! So true! Our igloos are melting as we speak and we are resting up the dogs who have pulled our sleds all winter. LOL.

LOL! 🙂
