Half-life is the period of time it takes for the amount of a substance undergoing exponential decay to decrease by half, like the amount of radiation something may give off and eventually become something it was not before. For nuclear reactors, it is the amount of time that their energy source becomes useless. This nice little chemistry lesson is perfect for a website and its design. Every website has a half-life, the question is what is it?
“39% of marketers feel a company should redesign their website every 13-24 months… [while] 29% of marketers feel a website should be re-designed every 25-36 months.” SEO.com
In the same regard, a company should not change its brand more than three years, but advised to do so within seven to ten years of the last alteration. Thus the question “Why do we want to redesign our website?” will fuel the answer to when. Here are a few answers for that why question:
- To promote a new product or restructuring of your website.
- Want something more user friendly or professional.
- Stay in check with current website and industry standards.
- The current design has outlived its course.
- You are changing your brand.
- Want better options to customize things that previously were not a possibility.
We have shared with you our future look, but what redesign ideas would you have?

I think redesign is needed every two years. I am always on the lookout for a different theme to go with in the next year. Don’t let your website become stale or outdated.

Love it! We are actually getting out of the “design” business for ourselves by buying the Standard WordPress theme. This ensures a quality theme for life that meets browsing criteria and I personally NEVER have to spend time editing it again. I love to do it, but do not have the time….
