Living in another country and being exposed to another language, the act of translation is something you experience quite often. As often as we encounter “Engrish” in Italy, you can easily see that it English based products translated into native languages often have similar results.
As you can see by these examples, many have been translated really well, while others not as much:
Whenever I see examples like this, it makes me think about the huge task of translating the Bible.

Well Tide seems to work! Not sure about the beer… And it’s not just the china that have different names. Lays are called ‘Walkers’ in the UK!

Which is the reason I really like the translation footnotes of the NET Bible. They explain why they chose to translate it the way they did. It’s really interesting to read them, and at times it really helps to clarify the meaning of the text.
