When traveling in Ireland recently, I came across a Bible unlike any other I’ve ever seen: the Tabloid Bible. I spent a few glorious minutes laughing out loud and being stared at for it in a quaint bookstore in Dublin while reading it.
The whole Tabloid Bible is, true to its title, in tabloid style. British tabloid style, to be clear. I’ve tried to find ‘official’ inside pics, but apparently, they don’t exist (either that or Google wasn’t able to find them, which would surprise me). That means you’ll have to make do with the quick shots I took with my iPhone. At least they give you an idea of just how funny and brilliant this Bible is.

I finished SuperBetter a while ago, but I waited to review it because I wanted to do it justice. I can, in all honesty, say that this book has been life-changing for me. Ken Blanchard needs little introduction, as the author of numerous bestselling business books. He’s one of the business gurus who had dominated the business and leadership market. Countless managers, executives, and leaders of all stripes and sizes have benefited from his wisdom. Claire Diaz-Ortiz, however, is one of the millennial generation’s burgeoning leaders. I have personally found two of her books to be incredibly helpful and heartily recommend them.

I hate making New Year’s Resolutions, mostly because I never seem to keep them. So, when I needed to teach a class on how to make and keep New Year’s Resolutions, I realized that I had a lot of research to do in a short period of time.
Immediately, I turned to my research assistant (i.e. Google) and began looking for some information. That was when I was reminded of Claire Díaz-Ortiz.
Claire is a writer with quite the resume that includes running a non-profit for an African orphanage and being one of Twitter’s early employees. Using her experiences and her voluminous reading (200 books a year), Claire has published two books that I read and used as the bulk of my material for my resolutions class.

When I came across Assassination Generation in the library, I figured it would be an interesting, if maybe somewhat controversial read. After all, the subtitle of this book is ‘Video Games, Aggression, and the Psychology of Killing’. I hadn’t expected it to be so disturbing. This book rattled me to my core.
Dave Grossman, the author of this book, is not a ‘media specialist’ or something similarly vague, like all-too-many authors of articles and books on the effects of video games on children. He’s a retired Lt. Col. in the US Army, but also a former West Point Psychology professor and a recognized expert in the field of human aggression and the roots of violent crime, like killing. The reason I’m leading with this, is because I was struck by how uniquely qualified this man is to talk about the psychology of killing.
