The folks at North Point have a concept that we love. And it’ll save you in a time-crunch sometimes.
It’s called the “backpocket file“.
If you’re ever short on time & “Sunday’s Coming”:
What interesting resources, effects, ideas, etc. do you have cataloged away that would save you time & work in this situation?
Well, although you may not use this tip today, store it away in your backpocket file.
You’ll never know when it’ll be useful to know how to: Create Holograms in After Effects.

Creative Cow has a great hologram tutorial if you’re going for a more “Star Wars” holographic look. There’s even a version of the same-style tutorial for Apple Motion.
What do you have in your “backpocket” file?
What useful resources, video effects, tutorials, etc. do you look to for when you get caught in a time-crunch?

Cool trick. I’ll definitely be filing this one away for future use.
As far as my backpocket file, one thing I like to do is save cool presets in Particular that would be good for text or logo reveals. That way when I need a cool way to transition an element I don’t have to try and remember all the settings.

great job man! it would look pretty cool if you kept the “transform Controls” on the image (like how it looks in the thumbnail.. ) like a hologram version of PS or AI

Cool quick idea. I just started working in After Effects last year. Wish I had more time to spend with it!
