The battle for the top dog in social media is stronger than ever. In February 2012, the latest statistics show that Facebook is ranked as first with Twitter at second and Pinterest coming in at third. With this battle over social media, the question comes in, which one is better and how can I use both effectively?
It is very hard to judge which is the best because of the difference between the the top three networks. I feel like Pinterest has become a place for hopes and dreams, Facebook for reality and friends, and Twitter for business. At the same time, one is graphically driven while the other is more information focused.
Here is a few great facts from the infographic below:
- Twitter has 14 times more accounts than Pinterest.
- The rate of investment on for Twitter is 13.64% (1 in ever 10 tweets will get mentioned again) whereas Pinterest has a higher chance to get repinned.
- The best time to tweet are Sundays at 10PM and to pin is Wednesday at 8AM. (What does that say for who is using it?)
Do you have a favorite between Twitter and Facebook?

Mobile Apps For Non-Profits says
I haven’t dove into the Pintrest world quite yet. I’m afraid it could affect my manhood but for marketing purposes I may need to take the plunge.
Jeremy Smith says
The stereotype is just that and if “your manhood” could be wavered by a website, there are other issues at stake.
Margo, Bible Fun Factory says
I have to admit, I’m afraid to joining Pinterest because I don’t need one more social media site to become addicted to. And I never really got the point of Twitter. So, as you can imagine, I learned quite a bit from this infographic—in fact, I learned so much that I’m thinking about setting up a Pinterest account just to see what all the fuss is about.
Jeremy Smith says
The best part about Pinterest is the generated traffic without actually having to join the community. So for those that do not have five seconds a day to spare, do not join. Otherwise you have no excuse.
