Pinterest is the newest kid on the social media block and there is a TON of hype around it because of how unique it is. The focus on images is so appealing to a whole audience of people that it is seeing unprecedented growth.
In fact, Pinterest has now become the third most visited site, behind Facebook and Twitter.
That might shock some who would have thought Google+ should be that high, but they are actually sixth on the list.
It should be noted that this study tracks visits and NOT unique visitors, but in the business of advertisers, that is what we care about. The more pages you go to, the more of a chance you have of getting your content in front of a new person’s face and to your website.
- Facebook: 7 billion
- Twitter: 182 million
- Pinterest: 104 million
- LinkedIn: 86 million
- Tagged: 72 million
- Google+: 61 million
You can download the whole study from Experian.com and see all of the data.
Have you dove into Pinterest yet?
If not, what is holding you back?

Pinterest is third in driving traffic to my blog. I also like it because I can organize it differently than facebook or twitter. With facebook and twitter the focus is time. Someone see my link in the timeline and they choose to click it or not. But with Pinterest I can organize books by category and people can follow that particular board or they search on pinterest. I get virtually zero traffic from old facebook and twitter links. But most of my pinterest traffic is not based on the time I post the links.

Same here. I find that Pinterest on some days can triple my traffic and other days, “only” be the third most-driving traffic to the blog. Love it! What is your Pinterest handle?

I think though that missed a major market. China. QQ with 750 million users. Weixin just out of the blocks with a year has 100 million and weibo has over 400 million users. The numbers you have are world wide not just the USA so not to include a network because it maybe more country specific is not truly giving those numbers justice. I agree that pintrest is cool and has changed how many interact.

This is true.
