The Table Project, a “social media app” for the Church has announced their release. Partnered with FellowshipOne, they seek to bring an app that is custom-tailored for the needs of minitry.
It’s “free” for only the first 50 people for everyone forever!. How do you get a copy? Apparently you have to make a table. Not sure how that works, but why not?
[Note sarcasm here… we love the creative thought behind it!]
There’s not much to see on their site so it leaves a lot of open room for interpretation, but I can assume they will provide more information soon:
Will you be making a table to get a copy? Thoughts?
Danny Bixby says
Thoughts are (just as you said) there isn’t much to see yet, so have to reserve judgement.
Hope is that it isn’t a Christian ghetto.
JL! says
Actually, it’s free for everyone, forever. It’s only open to 50 new signups right now because, as it says on the site, “a select group of churches are rolling out the Table to their communities and giving us valuable feedback before we open the doors.” It’s in beta.
John Saddington says
sweet. thanks for the clarification!
Jason Wenell says
First off, a big thank you for helping us get the word out about our limited release launch. Just to clarify a couple things. You don’t have to “make a table” to get an account before we go public (we aren’t big into woodworking). You just have to get together with some of your church peeps to share some grub, take a pic of your group and post it on twitter with the message.. “We want the @table” (@table being our twitter handle, so we can find you easily). The first 50 will get an account right now. One more thing to clarify….the Table will be free for EVERYONE, not just the first 50. Soon we will open up the doors for every church to get an account with no charge, no limits on members or groups and no contracts. Sign up on our website (tableproject.org) to be updated on future releases.

It took me a few seconds to figure out what they are trying to do. I’m still trying to figure out what the heck sochurch is.
Craig Van Korlaar says
if the video at http://sochurch.com/features/video-tour doesn’t clarify things just shoot an email to me at craig(at)sochurch(dot)com and I’ll personally answer any questions you might have.

We got in on the Beta test for Gateway Church and the app seems pretty solid. From what I gathered the focus of the app is to connect people into groups and community within your church. The groups, whether they be serving teams or otherwise then have a place to communicate.
We ran into some things that were not going to work for our situation, but It’s worth a look for a lot of churches
