I just had an old 2006 circa email land in my inbox this morning. It was the partially fabled “joystick-controlled Mercedes-Benz SCL600.”
It was “partially fabled” because they didn’t intend to actually manufacture the car, it was, however, a fully operational concept car. It had your basic concept car coolness.
The untraditional doors.
The re-invented trunk.
No steering wheel.
No steering wheel? Yup. No steering wheel. Just a set of joysticks.
The punchline of the email highlights the influence of video games in our lives. Seriously, though, this is what a web designer can learn from this Mercedes concept:
It’s more important that the user can innately navigate, than look cool.
