There has been talk about smartphones killing the portable gaming industry, meanwhile, tablets are knocking on the door of home consoles.
Perhaps they don’t have nearly the “guts” as a PS3 or Xbox 360, but they bring an interesting dimension: control surface.
Take Real Racing HD, for example.
It not only boasts online play and plenty of tracks and cars, but you can compete over local Wi-Fi or online with players of Real Racing 2 HD and Real Racing 2, and experience pioneering 16-player online multiplayer.
Very cool, but I think this is even cooler:
Full HD 1080p TV-out and dual screen gaming support on iPad 2. Experience Real Racing 2 HD like never before in stunning, true 1080p while real-time racing telemetry is displayed on iPad 2.
I really like the tech here. It’s a little bit of both worlds, home console and portable.
Best of all, it’s only $10.
That’s going to be hard to beat, so home consoles are going to need to take gaming to a whole new level.
