It’s far too easy to get sucked into the idea that innovation in the web technology space is just technology; in fact, sometimes the biggest investment or technological innovation that successful organizations experience is people.
What if the best thing you could do this year is prayerfully consider changing the minds (and hearts) of your current ministry and staff in terms of the web? What if the biggest technological innovation is hiring the right person this year so that you can prepare for 2011?
Innovation has oftentimes been too strongly associated with obvious technological advancements and not the people behind them.
Invest wisely this year; the technology will consistently change but (hopefully) you’re people won’t.

Well it's not my church or "staff" but I have been trying for some time now to get my church to use Google Apps for email, calendar sharing, etc. They don't have a full time IT person on staff and the volunteer guy is run ragged because of server issues and now they're thinking of getting exchange.
Google apps would be 100% FREE and would integrate nicely with those who want to continue to use Outlook for email.
I may have to go with the big guns. We got this guy doing some volunteer work for us to help on the business side of things and I know he'd like those bottom line savings…..

Yep, people are the bestest investment ever… just don't think of them as an investment because for too many of us that carries too many negative connotations.
