YouTube is littered with so many different soldier homecoming videos, it is probable that you have seen at least a few of them.
Some have soldiers returned home to their pets who nonsensically jump up and down until they know their master is not leaving again. Others show how the service member surprises parents, siblings, or spouses through some fun event.
My favorite is when the mother or father surprises their children.
These videos hit especially close to home for me as I am currently doing youth ministry for military teens at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. I understand second hand what it means to not see your parents for months or a year at a time, to grow quite when CNN reports on the death toll overseas, or how proud I am on veteran and military holidays. In fact, I am writing this from my house on base as the national anthem is currently playing in the background for the 5PM change of command.
The video below goes a little further with a Star Wars theme for his 6 year old son after a nearly year long tour over in Afghanistan, but who was able to return home early.
Oh the things parents are willing to do for their children. Its awesome!

Who would you have dressed up as?

Cool video, but I noticed you have a typo in the title of your article. You misspelled “soldier”

Yes… I realize how old this article is…. but… “to grow quite when CNN reports on the death toll overseas.” Quite should be quiet, I would think.
Also, LOVE the vid.
