I’m just wondering…
How many of you guys are actively using an Ad-Blocker while reading some of the 8BIT sites?
It’s ok to be honest here…

Guilty. Sorry. π
Does it help that I have an ad of ChurchCrunch on my site? π
Kyle Reed says
you are never allowed to read this site again barner.
Just kidding, you are the greatest.
Bill says
Totally using a pop-up blocker on Safari & Chrome. I see all the ads on the site though. That what you’re talking about? π
jonathan says
I do.
Rich Stephens says
I use an ad blocker to read ALL sites (when I’m not using my iPhone). Ads slow down my browsing experience. I also ad skip when I watch TV using my TiVo. If I happen to see something that interests me, illl slow it down and watch ( or read, in the case of web sites).
joanna says
I don’t, but it is tempting since there is still not particularly appropriate ads showing up in your RSS feed
Walter Wimberly says
RSS Feed, with an Ad Blocker (so I don’t know if there are ads in the feed or not).
Chris says
Yep. Ad-Block Pro in Firefox. Blocks about 99% of the ads online.
Steven Rossi says
Guilty. I’d love to support sites that I frequent by not having to have an ad blocker, but there are too many sites that abuse ads and make the web too much of a hassle. On the bright side, though, I often see banners of sponsors like the MediaTemple one on the right here.
danielcberman says
When I am on Firefox, I run with ad-blocker as standard equipment. Ditto the abuse of ads, but even while working in retail, I see so much advertising that on most website sites its just visual clutter. We can talk about supporting or not supporting site all we want, but in this day and age I choose my purchases extremely carefully. I’m much more likely to visit a site based on a recommendation from someone I trust than an ad any day, and yes I am extremely cautious about paid tweets as well.
Influence me toward something I can’t live without, and maybe I will bite. Tell me I can’t live without something, and its the fastest way to turn me off and give me an excuse to tune out.
Scott Cheatham says
I do…sorry…but I was getting slammed with too many ads so a while back, I added it as an extension to Google Chrome.
dewde says
Hrmm… whitelist certain sites :-), like, say… this one?

I don’t use a specific ad-blocker, but I do block pop-ups (what a nuisance they are) and I use ClickToFlash because I don’t want Flash ads dragging down my browser.
Paul Sanduleac says
I’m using an ad blocker but I see all your ads.
Kyle Reed says
I love how the comic depicts the guy with the add blocker using a PC (I picture that guy being Tom) and the guy asking the questions using a mac (maybe thats John or Jared)
davidshq says
Not me. This comic explains my exact opposition to the utilization of such blockers. =)
Travis Fish says
Nope! π But I do use clicktoflash to help block annoying flash ads. Good thing you don’t have those! π
Kevin Cooper says
Yep, using AdBlock with Chrome and Firefox. But trust me, none of the 8bit sites are that ad heavy. Smashing Magazine is one of the heaviest I think.
