Honestly, I’ve not used Vi (or Vim) since I was in college. I definitely remember how powerful the editor is especially when you’ve mastered many of the shortcuts.
With support for nearly every programming language available, many programmers are still at home within the editor. Up until recently, Vim was lacking support for one major aspect of Ruby – blocks.
This means that for many languages, with the exception of Ruby, it was easy to select a block of code within the editor – perhaps an entire function, class, conditional, loop, or other similar piece of code.
Limiting, right?
The Vim Text Object for Ruby Blocks provides just that.
You can checkout directions for usage, the download, and installation instructions on the project’s homepage.
