Well, I’ll tell you what Drexel University did with $1.5 million bucks.
They recently purchased seven HUBO humanoid robots at around $300,000 to $400,000 each.
Of course some would argue this wasn’t a waste of money, after all, these robots can do this:

Don’t forget, these are only four of the seven robots purchased as part of a $20 million Major Research Infrastructure grant awarded by the National Science Foundation. Drexel University will be sharing them with partner institutions, including MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Virginia Tech, the University of Southern California, Ohio State, Purdue and UPenn.
I doubt this will be the last goofy use of HUBO’s we’ll see on YouTube.
