With all this hype about CS5 and the Self-Aware Photoshop you must always remember that most people can’t necessarily afford it.
CS5 is a luxury item, and there are many online and free alternatives (although none of them, of course, have the feature set like Photoshop).
One such online image editor is Pixlr, which I’ve found handy a few times (when I had to re-install Photoshop).
The interface looks very familiar to that of Photoshop and the tools are easy to use.
I’m pretty impressed.

Pixlr is actually pretty slick. I’ve been tinkering around with it a little in combination with the Pixlr Grabber Firefox extension and it works like a champ. Still think Aviary is very cool too though in a pinch with no Photoshop on hand.

Pixlr does look like a pretty cool online app. Thanks for the tip. I’m always looking for new stuff to check out.
However, Gimp is also free…and open-source. It’s actually been “self-aware” for a couple years now using the Resynthesizer plugin that basically does the same thing:

So, you get all the cool functionality AND you don’t have to drop all your spare change on CS5. Check it out.

This is great. I’ve been able to point a lot of people to programs like this after they realize they can’t/don’t want to pay for basic image editing.
I especially like Gimp, something “oschurch” mentioned.
