The Nifty MiniDrive is absolutely that.
Nifty.
If you’re running a MacBook Air or the new MacBook Pro, take notice:
Nice, right?
With the Nifty MiniDrive, you can expand your storage space by easily inserting a microSD card:
It’s as easy as that!
But wait, it gets better.
Although this is a Kickstarter project, they’ve already met what they were asking for … by over 20 times the amount! (It may be higher now, too.)
Considering the Kickstarter pricing, I would expect it to be in the $25-30 range.

Interesting – at first I was like, “what’s the deal with this? – there’s a bajillion microSD –> SDcard converters on the market already”. Then I realized the “nifty” feature of this one – it is flush with the computer so it looks to be seamlessly integrated. And with the new SDXC standard in newer MB’s, it really can become a permanent backup drive or secondary drive for the computer (once SDXC cards reach their potential anyway). Of course, you lose the SD slot in your computer.
Since I have an older macbook that doesn’t use SDXC, I’m limited to 32gb through this, making it not worth it to lose the SD slot in favor of a tiny amount of extra storage space.
