The Best Email Client for You [2016 Edition]

Email is an old technology that is very similar to how it started out. And yet recently we’ve seen some big changes that have really shaken up the way many people use email and deal with email. Recently, this matter has been agitated further by a popular email client (Mailbox) that was a acquired by a big company declaring that it shut down. So we thought it would be good to update this email post for the New Year and see how the state of email has changed.

Personally, I too have undergone a “conversation” over my use of email and email client leading to me using a different combination of applications across the board.

Like the last time, this review will not tell you the best email app for everyone, but instead, will have a selection of email apps that should work well for how different people deal with email. Meerkat vs Periscope [Infographic]

If your ministry or personal website does any kind of digital content with blogging, social media, podcasts, or the like, and are looking for a unique and potentially short-term impact platform to get your content distributed, video streaming is absolutely the way to go. The two new ways to do this that would be perfect is via Meerkat and Periscope.

As a platform, I cannot speak into how to do it. I do not want to go over my 2 gig data cap, so I was already behind. That being said, from a vlogging standpoint, I have done this for a year now and can say that this ability to promote content with tone, passion, and further description of what you are sharing will make for amazing promotional opportunities.

CPT: App Backpack 2016

CPT stands for Church Plant Tech, a term I “coined” back in my early blogging days. I’m a church planter, and I find that cheap and effective solutions are pivotal to a planter. My CPT articles are to help other planters (and probably everyone else too) find good solutions to problems for as cheap and as creatively as possible. Enjoy!

Build Your Own Project Fi Phone Stand

Project Fi is an interesting project from Google to provide a phone plan for some US customers. It requires a Nexus phone (either 6, 5X or 6P) to work and has a rather unusual plan.

Instead of offering the cheap high level data usage of some other plans, it offers very expensive plans for using cellular data, but absolutely free usage of WiFi data from a wide variety of available WiFi sources. But that isn’t the most interesting about Project Fi (at least not to me).

Online Accountability with Accountable2You [Review]

You don’t have to live on the Internet too long before you start seeing a lot of cons to go with all the pros of having the world at your fingertips. As Christians navigating the World Wild Web, vices lay all around us, and pornography is no stranger to the Internet.

There are tons of accountability software out there to help protect our wandering eyes on almost every device imaginable. EverAccountble is still my favorite Android accountability solution around, and there are plenty of iDevice options out there, but there was one device I couldn’t figure out how to protect: the Chromebook.
