Augmented Reality is Actually Super Useful (Like Iron Man)

I’ve always been really fascinated with Cyborgs especially in movies where you get to “see” the world from their perspective.

I really like Iron Man too when you see what Tony Stark sees from the suit and how his interface adds elements to the landscape to give him more information about his surroundings or the people he’s engaging.

Mobile applications have already starting using this and one of the best examples is Yelp’s “Monocle” feature on their Iphone app:

An App that Lets You Talk About Live Events without Being Annoying

I remember when I first started using twitter: I had a Motorola Razor that I could use to call people and play Tetris. It was pretty much useless by today’s standards of cell phones, but it was super thin.

I remember turning on device updates for everyone that I followed on twitter. At the time my cell phone was the only way I really interacted with twitter. You can imagine as I started to follow more people on twitter my device updates increased. It got to the point where I was getting a text message every five minutes.

I loved the notifications at first, but after a while it got really old. It would have been okay if not for one of my friends. He was the guy that decided to send in about five tweets at a time talking about a TV show or a sports game. I could really care less what he thought of a referees call. My love for device updates quickly was ending by turning them off.

We all follow that one person that likes to talk about American Idol, Glee, or Lost a little too much. Sometimes you wish they would do it somewhere else. Or how about that guy or gal that is at a conference and becomes a tweeting machine by quoting everything the speaker says.

Sometimes it is okay to get some of the updates, but after a while your twitter stream starts to get backed up with tweets from one person. Maybe you like this, but I myself could do without the running commentary about everything that is happening on a American Idol, sporting event, or conferences.

Maybe there’s an app for that…

Design inspiration comes and goes like the wind for me and sometimes the only way that I actually stay productive is the ability to actually do something with my inspiration.

Sometimes it’s simply the ability to write something down or draw something out; the act of capturing!

Scratching the Domain Buying Itch on the Go

I’ve got the domain-buying itch really bad. I scratch it a few times a week – just ask my team (or actually, just ask @Dewde who sees my financial trail).

And I have ideas for .com’s all the time and obviously one of the first things I want to know is whether the domain name is even available.

Typically I’ve had to wait til I get home, which sometimes results in forgetting the domain name I wanted to check or (even worse) a “cooling” effect happens where I realize it is a dumb name and I shouldn’t buy it.

RC Sproul Launches iPhone App, Ligonier Ministries

I’ve been a fan of RC Sproul and many of his books for a while now and if there is one thing that’s definitely true it’s this: He’s written a lot of books.

His organization, Ligonier Ministries, announced the other day the release of an official iPhone app. You can do a number of things with it including:

  • Listen to or watch the Renewing Your Mind daily broadcast and archive.
  • Read a daily Bible devotional.
  • Enjoy thousands of free messages, articles and devotionals in the Learn section.
  • View learning resources grouped by Topic, Teacher, Scripture or Type. You’ll find great teaching from leading pastors and theologians such as Alistair Begg, Sinclair Ferguson, John MacArthur, Albert Mohler, John Piper, Ravi Zacharias and many more.
