We’re pretty enamored by mobile bible apps like YouVersion and the ESV Bible App but that doesn’t mean that we’re not open to others!
And to be quite honest, everyone reads the bible differently and sometimes you just need a different app than everybody else!
So, here are 5 other free iPhone Bible Apps that you probably haven’t seen…

Holy Bible is my Bible-reading app of choice. I really like the split-screen functionality, as it’s nice for comparing multiple translations or languages. It has lots of good translations and a bunch of display options. I’d definitely recommend it.

Good list. Some of the Olive Tree apps are really good, even though they’re mostly not free. Of course, YouVersion has a special place in my heart, but I’m a little biased. 🙂

Side note, would love to see a little more Android/Blackberry/WebOS/WinMo/Symbian/WinPho7/J2ME/Bada love in the Church Drop annals. But I know you’re only one man, albeit a blogging superman!!! 😀

Don’t forget the relatively new ESV Bible app from Crossway.
It’s my preferred translation and the new free app is great. No need for a web connection – so perfect for flights – and you can make notes and highlight specific verses.
Greg Simmons says
I now see you actually reffed the ESV app …..but I still wanted to give additional props for it.

without a doubt, Wave Study Bible. Great free resource, particularly if you want original languages.
Joanna says
I haven’t been impressed with Wave study bible. They charge way too much for the translations I’d most want to use, in landscape mode you usually don’t see more than a verse at a time and the shake to get a random verse feature kinda encourages bad bible reading methods.

I live and die by my Wave Study Bible App. It’s like having a small concordance along with several versions of the bible with you at all times. Can’t wait for the iPad version.
