The big announcement from Apple happened and those of us who are Apple fans probably geeked out more than a few times. Ok. Maybe a lot of times.
Here are some of the highlights and a few of my own thoughts from Apple’s big announcement.

One of my first posts for ChurchMag was about how you could use Scrivener to organise your bible study notes and why this might be worth considering, especially if you might one day want to publish them. That was a long time ago now and since then I’ve used Scrivener many times for different projects. However, recently I’ve been using my iPad more and more to do everything as I find it is better at doing my regular tasks. With that in mind, the news that Scrivener has finally come out with an iPad app (having been working on it for many years) was joy to my ears.
But would it live up to its desktop partners great reputation or would it be another case of a lightweight companion app to a more powerful brother.

Recently I was trying to help my folks out with a technology issue (something I’m sure many of you are familiar with). As they described the issue, I wasn’t exactly sure what they were doing and they didn’t have the words to fully express the idea. However, I had an idea, maybe they could show me what the issue was so I could tell them how to solve the problem.
I love reading. In fact, my goal is to read thirty books this year. (I’ve made it through eleven so far! When I read, I often highlight interested or challenging passages, especially if it’s something I could use in a book or blog post or share in a sermon. That’s why, for the longest time, I was so frustrated with my Kindle and how it had all of my highlights on lock-down. Thankfully, I seen found a service that allowed me to pull notes off of my Kindle device.
But then, two years ago, I switched to an iPad, which meant that I didn’t have an easy way to get my highlights.
Until now!

YouVersion is, perhaps, one of the greatest technological gifts to Church, right behind Gutenberg’s printing press and red carpet. Not only does it offer multiple translations of the Bible in English but also in numerous other languages as well. Add to this the reading plans, notes, highlighting, and Scripture sharing functions, and you can see why YouVersion is so powerful!
And now, it’s more powerful than ever!

For a while, one of my favorite email clients on my iPhone has been Spark by Readdle. It adds useful extra functionality like smart notifications (ensuring I only get notified about important and urgent messages not spam) and smart filtering of messages. However, I was hesitant to use it as it was limited to just the iPhone. For some people that might not be a problem but being someone who often prefers to do on an iPad what some people prefer to do on a iPhone, it was for me. Well luckily now Spark email client has come to the iPad as well and is said to be coming to the Mac too.
So why should you care about yet another email application?
