This isn’t just cutesy LEGO fun. This is a fully functional home built camera that takes some really sweet pictures.
Cary Norton is more than a great photographer, she’s an artist!
Having built it with LEGO’s, these are a few of the photos she captured with it:
In a world of digital, I am deeply in love with the analog. This camera takes some beautiful shots.
Here’s a little info on how she built it:
I have no clue how many pieces are in this camera.
It’s dimensions are roughly 7″x6.5″x7″.
The main parts are a Main box, internal box, film holder/ground glass slot, lens board, lens.
The lens is a 127mm ƒ4.7 I got on ebay for ~40 dollars.
The lensboard is two Plates deep and fits perfectly in the slot I built for it (though, I cut it down to one plate in the center to actually mount the lens).
Focus is achieved by sliding the internal box forward and backward.
A photographer who builds their own camera remind me of bloggers who build their own theme or musicians who craft their own instrument. There is something very rich about knowing your art form inside and out.
