Whatever your reservations are regarding JavaScript as a language, it’s here to say. Although the language has it’s decent share of good parts, it’s also got a few bad areas, too.
Perhaps the best way to make sure that we’re avoiding problematic features of the language is to have someone review the code and highlight said areas.
Of course, not all of us have a JavaScript ninja at our disposal. Maybe the next best thing is JSLint…
JSLint – its title being derived from lint – is a web-based application by Douglas Crockford that examines your code and returns a dump of any potential problems with what you’ve written:

Sure, it adds one extra step to your development process but as JavaScript has become somewhat of a staple in web-based applications, perhaps it’s worth evaluating your source before publishing it.
