How-To Join the ChurchMag Authors Network

How-To Join the ChurchMag Authors Network

August 22, 2011
by Eric Dye

On my right and left, are some of ChurchMag’s hard-core contributors.

The first Thursday of every month, members of the ChurchMag Authors Network hop onto Google+ Plus and launch into a Google Hangout (okay, it’s only happened once, but we plan on doing it every month. Promise :-)).

Three different countries and various States in the U.S., we all had a great time hearing each others verbal voices, after having read each others written voices for quite some time. We all agreed that our online written personas were just like our face-to-face personalities.

What we have here is a budding community of people who are passionate about how technology and the Church relate, and it’s very exciting. Everyday, we shoot messages to each other on our social network hosted on Yammer. The five us and the entire 8BIT crew make jokes, tease one another, make prayer requests, bounce ideas off each other, and share links of personal and writing inspiration.

It’s the coolest thing since Crystal Pepsi.

At our latest Thursday Hangout, one by one, a number of the 8BIT crew members took some time to drop-in and join the fun!

So, how do you become a part of this crew?

It’s easy.

So easy, there are a few new ChurchMag contributors on the verge of joining this team of Church technologists.

Here’s how you get in:

  • Write 15 to 20 posts
Depends on the length, quality, etc …
Once you get in, this is how you stay in:
  • Post at least four times per month
    No slackers. Community includes involvement.

I’ve heard from a number of you who were interested in contributing to ChurchMag enough to shoot me an email, but I’ve yet to see a post. There are even more of you who have a lot to offer the ChurchMag community, but for whatever reason, haven’t take the first step.

Taking that first step sounds harder than what it really is. Trust me.

Let’s see what you’ve got. I bet it’s good.

You’re definitely right Eric, it’s much easier than it sounds, and well worth it!

The only reason I contribute posts at all is for the chance to video chat with Tom McFarlin.

If you don’t have thick skin or a sharp wit… run away as fast as you can. This is decidedly *not* a Sunday School environment.
