One of the things that I love most about many of the popular JavaScript libraries is the ease of which they allow you to accomplish the simplest of tasks without regard for which browser you’re coding against.
The problem with learning nothing but a framework is that you may be missing various nuances about a given language.
We’ve covered JavaScript: The Good Parts here before and I still contend it’s the best book for learning the ins and outs of the JavaScript language, but Cody Lindley of jQuery fame is currently working on a book that looks to be another great tour of the language:
