We work a lot with video in terms of ministry and the church. I mean, many of our live experiences on a Sunday use video in some sort of creative way.
And now online as we move towards video broadcasting we’re leveraging it even more – but what about email?
I, for one, would love to see video in my email (and HTML5) and it seems like one provider might have the answer…
Looking at the example above is pretty exciting and CampaignMonitor is beginning to test it out. The above is in Apple iMail but check out the Microsoft Outlook implementation:
I think this is pretty happening, if you ask me.
Rich multimedia formats and expressions are going to be increasingly present in our communication needs and strategy. I’m looking forward to a very “rich” experience and future!

Love this! Cant wait to start seeing and implementing this stuff!
I Love what you guys are doing. But, one of my pet peeves is technology blogs not calling programs by the right name… its not Apple iMail. its just Apple Mail 🙂
Hope you dont hate me for pointing it out 🙂 Much Love!

yeah, nice!!!
but please don’t auto start and no streaming – that would make it useless in my overpriced internet country.

auto-start kills me.

Yep, that’s hot. I’ve had a lot of clients that have been wanting to send videos in email for years. While this is a nice feature, I wonder if they will use it. It seems like they’ve moved on to using other avenues to push video to their tribes. I agree with Phillip. Auto-start would suck.

how many clients do you guys ahve?

Hi John,
I just wrote an article on HTML5 video in email the other day for REELSEO. You can check it out here: http://www.reelseo.com/html-5-video-email/. I hope this is helpful to you.

Hi John,
Great post. We are testing HTML5 as well. We are a competitor to Campaign Monitor and have been doing video email using Click-to-play flash technology for a year (click on a play image/video still and open a browser with a landing page to play the video). HTML5 is moving quickly, with Chrome, Mozilla, Opera early support now (using different codecs) and microsoft talking about IE9 support in 2011. Of course email client support (outlook, lotus, etc) would likely follow along. Therefore we think that video email will be ‘dual-mode’ for quite a while to be able to support everyone’s email environment.
We work with several churches and have pastors giving weekly devotions to their flock via video email each week. Very cool application for the technology
