I recently purchased a Roku for myself. It is, by far, the best tech gadget I’ve purchased in years. A Roku is a set-top box that streams content from the Internet giving you access to some really cool content on your TV.
While perusing the channel choices I noticed a few Christian-themed options. No doubt Lifechurch.tv (one of the channels offered) has a great technical staff that can put together a channel to get featured on Roku’s devices but what about a small or medium sized church?
What can they do to get into the living rooms of millions of people?
Blubrry Will Hook You Up
The answer is simple and free: submit your church’s content to the Blubrry Network of podcasts. Your church is podcasting its sermons right? Whether you syndicate your content via audio or video your church or ministry can reach out to millions of more people by having its podcast added to the Blubrry directory.
Once you sign up and submit your content you only need to meet some simple requirements:
- A title, description, web site URL and talent/artist name specified for your program
- Program artwork
- Updated content within 30 days
- At least 7 qualifying audio or video episodes. Audio media must be in MP3 format (.mp3 file extension). Video media must be in H.264 format (.mp4 or .m4v file extension).
- A content rating.
Easy, peesy, lemon squeezy!
Now, if you’re not podcasting your church’s sermons already you have a great reason to get it going. It’s easy, it’s free and it will reach more people for Christ. What are you waiting for?

Cool! I just ordered a Roku as well and it shipped yesterday. Will be a fun device to play around with and see how it evolves…of course, it’s Linux under the covers.
