When I switched over to a Mac from Windows almost a year ago, I was very frustrated with my Twitter apps. I went from TweetDeck to the official Twitter app, since I heard nothing but bad things about the new TweetDeck Mac app. I disliked the official Twitter app so much, I found an old Mac version of TweetDeck and ran that. That was great for a while, but without the autofill working and a few other annoying quirks, I was getting desperate. That’s when a new version of TweetDeck for the Mac was released, so I gave it a try. Problem solved! It was great. Great, that is, until they updated it again a few weeks, ago. I’m trying to manage multiple accounts and is a part of my daily workflow. *sigh* So, I decided I would give the native Mountain Lion OS X Twitter integration a try. It turns out, you can add multiple Twitter accounts to Mountain Lion and take advantage of the new Notification system! Here’s how you do it:
Step 1
Open up your preferences and open your ‘Mail, Contacts & Calendars:’
Step 2
Click the ‘+’ in the bottom left corner:
Step 3
Select Twitter:
Step 4
Add your Twitter details–username and password:
WIN!
Now when you open your Notification center and compose a tweet, you can select which account you want to tweet from!
Pretty cool, right?
*UPDATE*
The day I wrote this post, Tweetbot was released for the Mac. You may want to read about what I think about Tweetbot before going crazy with this tutorial. However, I’m still glad I did it. Although I’ve adjusted my Twitter notifications, I still make quick tweets (no mentions, DMs or links) via Mountain Lion’s Notification Center, mostly because I like the bird chirp sound–but it’s pretty handy, too.
🙂
What’s your favorite multi-Twitter account solution for OS X?
